We've had an update!

Along with the usual PageRank update, we have seen a lot of changes. First off, it seems Google has taken action and penalized websites that are selling links. It's still shrouded in mystery, but the deed has been done.

Second of all, it seems that there was a general change in the algorythm, since higher PRs have gone down and lower PRs have gone up. For example, Yahoo has gone from 10 to 9. Since so many big PRs (between 6 and 10) have lost some importance, it is also taking down a few other pages as well, like a domino effect. Thankfully the effect of the update does not seem to have affected many websites. In fact, most websites have not been affected in the search engine results positions. We have also read on many forums that the PRs for blogs are decreasing in value since they are such a huge source of outgoing links.

So generally speaking, there have been some major changes in the algorythm, but it has not affected the web as much as it could have. For our part, we were pleasantly surprised with the changes as well as the ideas behind them. We still have to search through the data, but hopefuly it's for the best!
